Re-teach and redo a graded event:
Teachers are required to give the actual grade the student earned on a graded event. The district shall permit a reasonable opportunity to retake a graded event for which the student received a failing grade if they meet any of the following criteria:
The student puts forth sufficient effort
(prepares for the graded event, takes time to respond to the entire graded
event, shows strategies, checks over the completed work, etc.)
Has extenuating circumstances
discussed with an administrator, such as extended illness or a family
student meets any of these criteria, then the skill or concept not mastered
will be retaught and the student will be given another opportunity to be
reassessed. Any reassessed graded event
will not receive a grade higher than a 70.
All students are expected to do their very best the first time a graded event is given.
First offense- Phone call home and the opportunity to retest up to a 70 or a zero for the assignment.
Second & subsequent offenses- Office referral and an academic consequence of retest up to 70 or zero for the assignment.
A student will be responsible for obtaining and completing the makeup work in a satisfactory manner and within the time specified by the teacher. Students will be given one day to make up work for each day the student is absent. The teacher may extend the make-up work time line up to three (3) days for each absence if the student has extenuating circumstances. Students who do not make up the work within the time allotted will receive a zero in the grade book for the assignment.
